Tuning

When attempting to tune your own instrument, always keep the destination pitch in mind. Follow the tuning procedure just as we do in class. Do not attempt to tune with the pegs until you taught you appropriately! This path is perilous for the amateur string player; one must not be foolhardy in their ambition!

1. Listen - Give yourself time to hear the note you are attempting to match.

2. Audiate - sing or hum the note to make sure you can recognize and recall the pitch.

3. Tune - Produce a stable tone on the string you are tuning, then make an small adjustments.
